I moved to Winona, Stoney Creek back in 2013 for a few reasons; firstly Winona is a beautiful community! This hidden gem provides gorgeous lake views of Lake Ontario and also scenic skylines of the Stoney Creek Mountain, giving it gorgeous landscapes and views on various ends and fronts. Stoney Creek’s proximity to both the lake and mountain make it a great place for people who enjoy being outside with nature, with plenty of landscapes for outdoor exploring and activities.
The water PH levels are lower than Mississauga & Toronto, thus making it an enjoyable lake front to pull up for a swim on a hot summers day! You can also be sure to find great hiking trails, golf courses, walking and bicycle boardwalks and swimmable waterfronts with room for lots of outdoor water activities.

Stoney Creek has a warm local community feeling, the people are very friendly and the the school system is great. In the last seven or eight years, we’ve had three brand new schools built within one mile of each other in anticipation of the growth of Winona and Stoney Creek, and they all have a great reputation. Teachers look for areas like this to live and work in—you’re in the greenbelt, the gateway to wine country. Winona has one of the best conservation parks in the area—Fifty Point—and two marinas / beach fronts within miles of each other.
I find a lot of professional couples and families are moving here from the city. People move here to escape the rat race. It feels safer, it’s slower-paced, and you can spend more time with your children & family. Kids have so many outside activities—you should see it when soccer, hockey and basketball starts up, it’s packed with kids socializing and riding bikes. Its a really good neighborhood to raise a family.
Definitely location. Winona, Stoney Creek is the gateway to everything. It’s a quick hop to the QEW, which takes you in every direction. You’re minutes from Burlington and an easy drive to Mississauga, Toronto and Niagara. There’s easy accessibility to the escarpment. We’re a hub, and that’s only going to get better with the new Costco plaza which opened in 2019. Lets not forget about the new GoTrain that is expected to be expanded to Winona, Stoney Creek for 2022.
Stoney Creek to Downtown Toronto is 51km, so by car, it would take approximately a 40 – 50 minute drive from Stoney Creek to Downtown, Toronto. By Go Train, it is approximately 30-50 minutes (depending on if you get the Express Go Train or Regular Go Train service.
Stoney Creek to Mississauga is approximately a 30 – 40 minute drive.
Stoney Creek to Niagara Falls / Buffalo is a 35 – 45 minute drive
For resale in Stoney Creek, town homes are in the $550,000-700,000 range and single-family homes are in the vicinity of $800,000 and up, especially if you want something newer. The market is hot. A subdivision will open and it’ll sell out in just a few weeks. For this reason, it is best to make sure you have your mortgage pre-approval complete before you start your home search, so that you can know exactly how much you qualify for.
